Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2017

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Attorney General's 1,794 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $309,971,064.64 in 2016.

At the top of the Attorney General Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Attorney General was Deputy Minister Patrick Monahan, who brought home $305,603.24 in 2016.

Following Patrick Monahan was Assistant Crown Attorney Peter Rollings, with annual earnings of $290,630.16. Assistant Crown Attorney Kevin Gowdey made $272,056.77, Senior Counsel principale Lucy Cecchetto made $247,175.77, and Assistant Crown Attorney Mary Humphrey round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $238,244.53 for the Attorney General 2017 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2016, 194 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 361 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 441 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 795 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 2 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 1 received over $300,000 at the Attorney General.
