Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 1997

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Health was Contract Psychiatrist RUSSEL L FLEMING, who brought home $236,114.91 in 1996.

Following RUSSEL L FLEMING was Contract Psychiatrist ROBERT R SHEPPARD, with annual earnings of $227,382.76. Psychiatrist In-Chief PIERRE LEICHNER made $202,099.30, Contract Psychiatrist LLEWELLYN W JOSEPH made $201,528.29, and Contract Psychiatrist ELIZABETH CZOLPINSKA round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $176,061.36 for the Health 1997 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 1996, 15 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 81 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 61 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 4 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Health.
