Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2017

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

2017 Ontario Sunshine List: Finance Top Earners

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Finance's 286 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $32,887,435.41 in 2016.

Topping the list for the Finance was Deputy Minister D. Scott Thompson, who brought home $296,441.58 in 2016.

Following D. Scott Thompson was Associate Deputy Minister Mahmood Nanji, with annual earnings of $213,728.39. Associate Deputy Minister J. Dave Lynch made $200,424.44, Assistant Deputy Minister/Chief Administrative Officer Helmut Zisser made $198,292.66, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Taxation Policy Division / Sous-ministre adjoint, Division des politiques fiscales Sriram Subrahmanyan round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $196,407.34 for the Finance 2017 Sunshine List.
